  Das Kleine Konzert

The baroque orchestra Das Kleine Konzert owes its name to an 18th century model, Das Große Konzert, which was founded in Leipzig in 1743 and later became the Gewandhausorchester.

Precise interplay and masterly interpretations distinguish the ensemble just as much as its three dimensional representation of emotions and operatic dramas.

Whilst initially founded to take on the ambitious orchestral parts during oratorio and opera performances of the Rheinische Kantorei, the ensemble’s well-balanced intimacy has since resulted in its own performances of pure orchestral repertoire - “a tonal language full of great, gestural strength” (Salzburger Nachrichten).
